With students from more than 120 countries studying
at UCD, the Global Lounge is conceived as the
confluence of an especially rich variety of interests,
beliefs and ideas.
We built the Global Lounge on Irish traditions of
hospitality and adaptability. Open plans, individual
furniture and a variety of spaces from large to small
empower new students with a choice of spaces to
call their own. Students can use a cutting-edge video
wall to watch 350 television stations from all over the
world or play on multi-player games consoles.
Vibrant colours and sculptural lighting infuse the main
lounge with energy, while the meeting and counselling
rooms around it are finished in a restrained palette
contributing to a more focussed atmosphere.
At its best, architecture is an uplifting, beautiful place
to bring people together. The Global Lounge at UCD
celebrates the mutual benefit for students learning
from each other and from each other’s differences.
